Electronics Supply Chain: Adapt or Be Left Behind

In 2025, the electronics supply chain faces unprecedented disruption and transformation. Rapidly evolving geopolitical dynamics, inflationary pressures, and shifting market demands are challenging even the most seasoned procurement professionals, and now, the question is no longer whether change is coming, but whether your organization is ready to adapt or risk being left behind.

In the face of tariffs, stubborn inflation rates and a slew of geopolitical conflict, Flex chief procurement officer Vincent Cellard says that it will be more important than ever to evaluate supplier relationships and act with purpose.

“Understand how you fit versus everybody else,” Cellard advises. “Do a lot of benchmarking but go deeper into your supply chain.”

Transforming a company’s procurement strategy in the middle of an uncertain and chaotic geopolitical landscape can also feel like a tall order, but ultimately, it comes down to a simple choice: “Adapt or be left behind,” says Cellard.

In a time of tremendous uncertainty for supply chains, Ken Bradley, chairman and chief strategy officer of supply chain analytics provider Lytica, further advises procurement professionals to “raise their heads up and really figure out what’s going on” with their processes, and find ways to be agile enough to survive an increasingly more dynamic and uncertain global marketplace.

“In the case of electronic components, the industry is just moving so fast,” he says. “If you're not moving at a fast pace, you're not going to be in a good position to succeed.”

Bradley stresses a need to go “back to basics,” by identifying vulnerabilities in supply chains, and thoroughly evaluating supplier relationships.

“Go through a due diligence exercise for all of them to make sure they're solid, because if your foundation isn't solid, then your results are at risk,” he says.
