BNSF Railway has launched new expedited freight service from its Hobart intermodal facility in Los Angeles to its Pearland facility in Houston.
The expedited service began on July 10, with BNSF touting it as comparable to over-the-road service alternatives, while providing expanded capacity and additional options for shippers moving drayage from Dallas-Forth Worth to Houston. BNSF says that the service is 24 hours faster than its standard product, and 48 hours faster than its previous service offering for the route.
“By continuing to create more opportunities to convert over-the-road freight to rail, we provide a cost-effective, direct solution to bring freight to the dynamic and growing Houston area," BNSF vice president Jon Gabriel.
BNSF also launched a new intermodal service for Mexico-based businesses in June, in partnership with J.B. Hunt Transport Services and GMexico Transportes SAB de CV (GMXT). The service offers on-time delivery rates higher than 95% and up to one day faster than traditional intermodal service, and provides real-time visibility and control over shipments for cargo owners. the company said.
