A lot of manufacturers and users of radio equipment aren’t ready for looming new regulations on cybersecurity by the European Union.
The EU’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED) establishes mandatory cybersecurity standards for radio products sold in the region beginning August 1, 2025. Yet a good number of manufacturers of the devices aren’t prepared for the new regulations, according to Jonatan Bodo, information security consultant at the CCLab of QIMA, a provider of testing, inspection, certification and compliance tools. He joins us on this episode to outline the scope of the problem, and what industry and device users must do to address it. We’ll learn how to protect personal data transmitted through radio equipment, as well as how users can perform self-assessments of their operations and equipment to conform to the new law. We also discuss the prospects for similar laws on radio-equipment cybersecurity emerging in other parts of the world. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
This episode is sponsored by QIMA.
